What is Glutathione?

(gloo-tuh-thigh-own)

Glutathione is the body's master antioxidant, produced in every cell to power detoxification, immunity, recovery, and cellular defense. But aging, stress, and daily environmental exposures drain antioxidant capacity. When levels drop, everything can start to feel harder than it should.

How it is taken

How it works,
week by week.

  1. 2 Weeks

Glutathione levels begin to rise across cells, helping them manage oxidative stress and everyday cellular damage.

  2. 30 Days

Many people notice steadier energy and better sleep as antioxidant capacity rebuilds.

  3. 3 Months

Recovery after exercise and resilience to stress are usually clearer by now. Your physician reviews your plan.

  4. 6 Months

Skin tone and clarity changes, when they come, are gradual and show over months of consistent use.

  5. 1 Year and Beyond

A maintenance dose keeps levels steady. Most members settle on one or two injections a week.

What you may notice,
and when.

  • More energy

the most common change members report in their first weeks

  • Better recovery

after training, travel and long days

  • Immune support

glutathione is central to immune cell function

  • Brighter skin

gradual, with consistent use over months

Individual results vary. Benefits reflect what Zepym Health members commonly report to their physician at check-ins; they are not the results of a clinical trial.

Important safety information and common side effects

Injectable glutathione is generally well tolerated. Common, mild effects include redness or bruising at the injection site, mild nausea, headache or flushing that passes in hours. Stop and seek care for hives, swelling of the face or lips, trouble breathing, wheezing or chest tightness. Tell your physician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have asthma, a sulfite or sulfa allergy, kidney or liver disease, or are receiving chemotherapy.

The research behind
glutathione.

The body's main intracellular antioxidant, and it can be taken by mouth or injected. Oral trials in small groups of healthy adults show that blood levels can rise, but no trial has shown a health benefit. Injected glutathione has been tested only in a few small Parkinson's and skin-lightening studies.

  • Oral trial54 adults, 6 months

250 or 1,000 mg a day against placebo for six months in 54 non-smoking adults. Blood glutathione rose at both doses. The trial measured blood levels, not disease or symptoms.

Richie et al., Eur J Nutr 2015
  • Oral, no effect40 adults, 4 weeks

500 mg twice a day against placebo for four weeks in healthy adults. Urinary markers of oxidative stress and red-cell glutathione did not change between the groups.

Allen and Bradley, J Altern Complement Med 2011
  • Injected glutathionesmall Parkinson's pilot

A randomized, double-blind pilot in Parkinson's disease found no significant difference from placebo in motor and daily-living scores. Its dose and size appear only in its abstract, so they are not repeated here. We found no injected trial with a health outcome in healthy adults.

Hauser et al., Mov Disord 2009

What the studies found

  • Raises glutathione in the blood with daily oral doses. This is a biomarker, not a health result (54 adults, 6 months; Richie et al., Eur J Nutr 2015).
  • A company-funded pilot of 12 adults reported higher blood glutathione and natural-killer cell activity within two weeks of liposomal glutathione, by up to 400%. No independent repeat was found (Sinha et al., Eur J Clin Nutr 2018).
  • No benefit on oxidative-stress markers was found with 500 mg twice a day for four weeks (40 adults; Allen and Bradley, J Altern Complement Med 2011).
  • Animal and cell work suggests a role in antioxidant defence. No human health benefit has been shown (mechanistic work, unproven in people).

The trials here measured blood levels or markers of oxidative stress, not health outcomes, so none shows a benefit. No trial cited here tests the product sold here. GlyNAC, a glycine and N-acetylcysteine combination, is a different intervention with its own trials and is not counted here.

What this does not say

  • No trial has shown that oral or injected glutathione improves a clinical outcome.
  • The immune result of the 54-adult trial (natural-killer cell activity) appears only in its abstract and is not confirmed, so it is not used here. Its funding could not be confirmed either.
  • The liposomal pilot (12 adults) was funded by the company that supplies its product. A liposomal form is a different product from the oral trials above.

The research
behind it.

Glutathione (GSH) is one of the body's most important antioxidants, helping neutralize cellular “pollution” caused by stress, environmental toxins, poor diet, and infections. GSH supports antioxidant defense in cells throughout the body, helping support energy production, skin health, immunity, and recovery.

With age and chronic stress, GSH can become depleted, leaving organs more vulnerable to oxidative damage, wrinkles, fatigue, brain fog, and inflammation. Prescription-grade GSH may help replenish this critical defense system, supporting cellular resilience, detox pathways, mitochondrial health, and immune balance.

Frequently asked questions

Contact support
How do I use Glutathione Injection?

Injected under the skin, 5 days a week. The starting prescription is 50 units (100 mg) each time. Your physician sets your own dose and it is printed on your label.

How much arrives in each shipment?

1 vial at the starting strength, shipped to your door from a licensed US pharmacy.

How does Glutathione support healthy aging?

Glutathione neutralizes free radicals and recycles other antioxidants like vitamins C and E, protecting cells from the oxidative damage that accumulates with age. Keeping levels up supports energy production, immune function and the liver's detox pathways.

Why are Glutathione Injections better than oral Glutathione supplements?

Swallowed glutathione is largely broken down in the digestive tract, so very little reaches your cells intact. Injecting it delivers the intact molecule, which is why physicians choose the injectable form when the goal is to raise levels.

What are the side effects of Glutathione Injections?

Most people tolerate it well. The most common effects are mild: redness or bruising where you inject, mild nausea, headache or flushing that passes in hours. Allergic reactions are rare; stop and seek care if you notice hives, swelling or trouble breathing.

Is Glutathione Injection safe for long-term use?

Glutathione is a molecule your body makes every day, and ongoing use is a maintenance dose, not an escalation. Your physician reviews how you feel at each check-in and decides with you whether to continue, adjust or stop.
