Weight Loss Treatment FAQs

Contact support
What is medical weight loss?

Weight loss treatment prescribed and followed by a physician: here, GLP-1 medicines such as tirzepatide and semaglutide, alongside diet and activity. A U.S.-licensed physician reviews your health, prescribes only if it fits and adjusts the dose with you.

Is compounded tirzepatide the same as Zepbound?

Both contain tirzepatide, but they are different products. Zepbound® is FDA-approved and made by Eli Lilly; compounded tirzepatide is prepared by a licensed U.S. pharmacy under your prescription and is not FDA-approved. We don't offer Zepbound. Zepbound® is a trademark of Eli Lilly and Company, not affiliated with Zepym Health.

Who is eligible for GLP-1 weight loss treatment?

Generally adults with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 or more with a weight-related condition. A physician reviews your history before anything is prescribed. GLP-1s are not for people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer or MEN 2, or during pregnancy.

Semaglutide or tirzepatide?

Semaglutide acts on GLP-1; tirzepatide acts on GLP-1 and GIP and produced more weight loss in its trials. Your physician helps you choose based on your goals, your history and how you tolerate the medicine.

Injection or tablet?

Both come as a weekly injection under the skin or as a tablet that dissolves under the tongue once a day. The tablet avoids needles; your physician explains how each one is taken.

If I've taken a GLP-1 before, can I start at the same dose?

Tell your physician which medicine and dose you took and when. They decide the safest starting point for you.

What side effects should I be aware of?

Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting and constipation are the most common, mostly in the first weeks and when the dose goes up. Severe stomach pain needs medical attention right away.

How long until I see results?

Appetite usually quiets within the first weeks. Weight loss builds month by month as the dose steps up; in the trials it continued for more than a year. Results vary.

Is it for both men and women?

Yes. GLP-1 medicines are prescribed to adult men and women who meet the criteria.

How am I billed?

Monthly, every 3 months or every 6 months; longer plans cost less per month. Shipping is free and you can pause or cancel anytime.
