Treatment

What is a GLP-1 and how does it work?+

GLP-1 receptor agonists (like semaglutide and tirzepatide) are prescription medications that help regulate appetite, slow gastric emptying, and improve insulin sensitivity. Combined with lifestyle changes, they support sustainable weight loss under medical supervision.

Injection or tablet — which is right for me?+

Injections are taken once weekly and are well-suited for patients comfortable with self-administration. Tablets are an oral, needle-free option for those who prefer to avoid injections. Your clinician will recommend the best fit for you during your consultation based on your medical history and preferences.

How fast will I see results?+

Many patients notice reduced appetite within the first few weeks, with weight loss building gradually over months. In published clinical research, adults taking semaglutide 2.4 mg lost an average of 16.9% of their body weight over 68 weeks (STEP-1 trial, New England Journal of Medicine, 2021). Trials studied branded products; compounded formulations are not FDA-approved. Individual responses vary and no outcome is guaranteed — your clinician monitors your progress and adjusts your dose over time.

Semaglutide vs. tirzepatide — what's the difference?+

Semaglutide activates one hormone receptor (GLP-1), while tirzepatide activates two (GLP-1 and GIP). In clinical trials, adults taking semaglutide 2.4 mg lost an average of 16.9% of body weight over 68 weeks (STEP-1, NEJM 2021), and adults taking tirzepatide 15 mg lost an average of 22.5% over 72 weeks (SURMOUNT-1, NEJM 2022). Trials studied branded products; compounded formulations are not FDA-approved. Individual results vary — your clinician will recommend the option that best fits your medical history and goals.

Process

How much is the medical consultation?+

The consultation fee for your initial medical review is shown at checkout before you pay. Completing the intake does not obligate you to start treatment, and you are not charged for medication unless a clinician prescribes it and you choose to begin.

Who prescribes my medication?+

A licensed, board-certified physician licensed in your state reviews your intake and medical history. Prescription decisions are made independently by your clinician based on clinical eligibility.

Can I message my clinician after starting?+

Yes. Ongoing care is included — secure messaging with your care team, follow-ups, and dose adjustments are all part of your subscription.

How long does the whole process take, from sign-up to treatment?+

The online health assessment is completed at your own pace and then reviewed by a licensed provider. If prescribed, your medication ships from a licensed pharmacy: once shipped, refrigerated medications arrive the next day and everything else within 2 days.

Pricing

Do I need insurance to qualify?+

No. We are a cash-pay practice and don't bill insurance. Each treatment page shows its current price; longer plans cost less per month.

How much does GLP-1 weight loss treatment cost without insurance?+

Each treatment page shows its current monthly price, with no insurance needed. The price includes the physician review, your prescription if approved, the medication, discreet shipping and ongoing support from your care team, and longer plans cost less per month. For comparison, brand-name GLP-1 medications can list for over $1,000 per month without insurance in the U.S.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?+

Many patients use HSA or FSA cards at checkout. Eligibility depends on your plan administrator's rules — we recommend confirming before purchase.

Can I cancel anytime?+

Yes. You can pause or cancel your plan from your account dashboard at any time, no questions asked.

Safety

Are there side effects?+

Like all medications, GLP-1s can have side effects (most commonly nausea, especially during the first weeks). Your clinician will discuss these in detail and adjust your dose to minimize them. See our Medical Disclaimer for full risk information.

Are compounded GLP-1 medications FDA-approved?+

No. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not verify the safety, effectiveness, or quality of compounded drugs before they are marketed. A compounded medication is only prescribed when a licensed clinician determines it is medically appropriate for you. Your clinician will discuss the risks and benefits, monitor your response, and review your medical history. See our Medical Disclaimer for full information.

Is compounded semaglutide legal in the U.S.?+

Yes. Licensed U.S. pharmacies may prepare compounded medications for an individual patient under a valid prescription, in accordance with federal law (Sections 503A/503B of the Food, Drug & Cosmetic Act) and state pharmacy regulations. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. Zepym Health works only with state-licensed U.S. pharmacies.

How is my medication delivered?+

Medications ship directly from a licensed pharmacy to your home in discreet, temperature-controlled packaging. Once shipped, refrigerated medications arrive the next day and everything else within 2 days.

What states do you serve?+

We serve patients across the U.S. Whether a treatment is available in your state is confirmed during your intake, based on your state of residence; some medications vary with each state's pharmacy rules.
