Glutathione (GSH): your body's master antioxidant, produced in every cell to neutralize oxidative stress. Oral liposomal form enhances absorption. Supports immune function, energy, and detoxification.

(gamma-glutamyl-cysteinyl-glycine, GSH)
Glutathione is a tripeptide (three amino acids bonded together) made by every cell in your body. It neutralizes free radicals and toxic compounds via the glutathione-S-transferase enzyme system. Glutathione levels decline with age, stress, and chronic illness. Oral GSH has poor bioavailability because it is broken down in the stomach; liposomal or acetyl-glutathione forms improve absorption. Some people report improved energy, immune function, and skin clarity with supplementation.

Oral glutathione absorption is limited. Liposomal formulations, N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC, a precursor), or intravenous GSH achieve higher bioavailability. Discuss form and dose with your physician.
People who want antioxidant support without injections.
By mouth, most glutathione is broken down in the gut before it is absorbed.
If you want the body to make more glutathione, N-acetylcysteine by mouth has better evidence. Ask your physician.

antioxidant and mitochondrial support
Day 1
Your physician reviews your energy, cognition, mood, medications, and health history. Discusses how glutathione or methylene blue support mitochondrial and antioxidant systems.
1Week 1
Start with your prescribed dose of glutathione or methylene blue capsules. Take with food to improve tolerance. Expect blue urine if taking methylene blue.
2Weeks 2-4
Some people notice improved energy, mood, or mental clarity. Others see no immediate change. Cellular repairs take time; be patient.
3Month 2
Your physician checks in on energy, mood, cognition, and any side effects. Discuss timing, dose, or whether to continue or adjust.
4Beyond
Cellular support compounds work best on a consistent schedule. Your physician reassesses every 3-6 months based on your response and evolving research.
5Individual results vary. Benefits reflect what Zepym Health members commonly report to their physician at check-ins; they are not the results of a clinical trial.
This is the starting dose the pharmacy prints on the label. Your physician sets yours and adjusts it with you.

Glutathione is the primary intracellular antioxidant. Low levels correlate with aging, neurodegenerative disease, and immune dysfunction. Boosting GSH is a plausible strategy for cellular repair.
Oral GSH bioavailability is poor; most clinical evidence comes from IV or liposomal forms or from NAC precursor studies. Oral liposomal GSH shows some evidence for immune and detox support.
Learn moreGlutathione and methylene blue are generally well tolerated at recommended doses. Glutathione: no established upper limit; side effects are rare. Methylene blue: at therapeutic doses (5-20 mg daily) is safe, but do not combine with SSRIs, MAOIs, or tricyclic antidepressants due to serotonin syndrome risk. Tell your physician about all medications, especially psychiatric drugs. Methylene blue may reduce the efficacy of some antibiotic or chemotherapy drugs; discuss with your physician if on cancer treatment. Methylene blue can reduce oxygen saturation slightly; avoid in people with severe anemia or respiratory disease. Stop and seek care for signs of serotonin syndrome (rapid heart rate, confusion, muscle rigidity, hyperthermia) if using methylene blue with psychiatric medications.

NAC is a precursor; your body converts it to glutathione. NAC has strong clinical evidence for immune and respiratory support. GSH and NAC complement each other. Your physician chooses based on your health goals and tolerance.
Energy and mood changes can take 2-4 weeks with consistent dosing. Cognitive benefits may take months to notice. Some people respond quickly; others need sustained use. Keep a symptom log.
These are separate compounds with different mechanisms. Some physicians use both; others prefer one. Discuss your health goals and medication history with your physician to decide the best approach.
Methylene blue has significant interactions with psychiatric medications (SSRIs, MAOIs, tricyclics) due to serotonin syndrome risk. Tell your physician about every medication you take.
Glutathione and methylene blue show promise in early-stage and animal studies. Human clinical trials are limited. Your physician uses these based on mechanistic reasoning and emerging evidence, not established clinical practice.
