Oxytocin causes uterine contractions and is not prescribed during pregnancy; it should not be used while breastfeeding without medical advice, and it is used with care in people with heart rhythm problems, low sodium, or who take medications that affect blood pressure. It does not treat the physical causes of sexual dysfunction and is not a substitute for evaluating them. Stop and seek care for chest pain, fainting, a very fast or irregular heartbeat, or an allergic reaction. Tell your physician about every medication you take.
