What is methylcobalamin 1 mg/mL?

(meth-il-co-BAL-a-min)

Methylcobalamin is one of the two forms of B12 your body actually uses. Cyanocobalamin has to be converted to it first; methylcobalamin skips that step. It is the form that donates a methyl group in the reaction that recycles homocysteine and supports nerve insulation (myelin). At 1 mg/mL it is the standard concentration, given weekly to start and then less often as levels recover.

1 mg

Methylcobalamin and cyanocobalamin both correct deficiency; the choice is a clinical preference. Prescribed at your physician's discretion.

How vitamin and lipotropic injections work

  1. Day 1

A US-licensed physician reviews your symptoms, history and, when needed, your B12 level, and chooses the injection and schedule. The kit includes everything you need.

  2. Week 1

A small intramuscular or subcutaneous injection, weekly to start. It takes under a minute; most people do it at home without trouble.

  3. Weeks 2–4

If your B12 was low, energy, focus and tingling usually start improving here as stores refill.

  4. Months 2–3

Your physician checks in, rechecks a level if needed, and stretches the interval or adjusts the blend to match your plan.

  5. Beyond

Injections support the plan; food, movement and sleep do the work. Your physician helps you decide how long to continue.

What the research says

The science of B12 and lipotropic injections

Injected B12, in either form, restores levels reliably when absorption is the problem; a 2024 study compared routes and confirmed injections raise levels fastest.

Methylcobalamin is the form used in the methylation cycle and is often chosen when nerve symptoms or fatigue are the main complaint. Your physician sets the frequency from your level and symptoms.
